The Cooperstown Fire Department is a public, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, funded in part by the Village of Cooperstown, and fire taxes from protection districts in the towns of Middlefield, Otsego, Springfield, and Exeter.

The Department cannot survive on public funds alone, and utilizes donations from the community to fund community education, equipment purchases, and supplies.

Donations of goods, services, funds and time are all appreciated and used for the good of the community and the Department.

Established Funds and Fundraisers

Equipment Fund Drive

The annual Equipment Fund Drive is held during the winter via a mailing to all district residents.  Donations received go directly to the Equipment Account, and use is restricted to the purchase of equipment essential to vehicle and department emergency operations.  While the Equipment Fund Drive is scheduled from December through February, donations are accepted and appreciated all year around.  To donate, simply write 'Equipment Fund' on the check memo field or on an envelope.

July 4th Fireworks Fund Drive

For many years, the department has sponsored the July 4th Fireworks over Otsego Lake.  Funded exclusively by local businesses and individuals, the fireworks are visible to visitors, village and lake area residents, and of course the many boaters on the lake. The Spring Fireworks Fund Drive pays for this community event, and your donation makes it possible.  While the annual Fireworks Fund Drive is scheduled May through July each year, donations are accepted and appreciated all year around.  To donate, simply write 'Fireworks Fund' on the check memo field or on an envelope.  See the department calendar for this year's fireworks date.

Special Donations

The Department accepts "In Memory Of..." and similar donations to honor special-circumstance friends and family.  Unless otherwise specified, recognition donations go to the department General Operating Account.

The department gladly considers donations of general goods and services for department use, or as prizes at special events. Local businesses and individuals have contributed to the Children's Christmas Party and other community events.

If you'd like to donate such an item or service, please send us an email at president@cooperstownfd.org.

We are currently unable to accept digital donations (PayPal, Venmo, etc.) at this time.

This feature should be available in the near future.

Volunteer

The biggest donation you can give is your time. If you'd like to volunteer, we're always looking for new members. Whether you're fighting fires, directing traffic, gathering donations, assisting with inventory, or even catering and organizing we're grateful for your help.
